Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs is ‘feeling great’ after undergoing his first radiation treatment, following his diagnosis of tonsil cancer.

The 56-year-old guitarist – who was a founding member of Oasis – is due to undergo 30 sessions of radiotherapy and two sessions of chemotherapy during his treatment, after telling fans last month he had cancer.

He wrote on Twitter: “Quick update, I had my first radiotherapy session this morning and I now have a course of chemotherapy which will end at 6am, so it’s a night in the hospital Christie. Another radiation therapy session in the morning, then home. Thirty radiation therapy sessions and two chemo sessions in total, so I started and I’m scratching. I’m not going to bore you with a daily diary, nobody wants that, but I feel good and I’ll probably tweet the usual nonsense as it goes. See you soon, sorry it won’t be at Knebworth or any of the summer gigs, but for those of you who go, have fun. Lots of love xxxx (sic)”

Bonehead took to Twitter in April to explain that he would be taking a break from his music career while he undergoes “treatment”.

He wrote: “Just to let you all know I’m going to be taking a break for a while.

“I was diagnosed with tonsil cancer, but the good news is that it is treatable and I will be starting treatment soon.”

Bonehead is now set to miss all of its scheduled summer gigs, including Liam Gallagher’s highly anticipated return to Knebworth in June.

He added on Twitter: “I’ll keep you posted on how it goes I’m disgusted I’m missing the gigs with Liam and the band. Have the best summer and enjoy the gigs if you go I’ll see to soon xxx (sic)”

Liam, 49, wrote: “Sending BIG love to the only Bonehead and his family wishing you a speedy recovery we are all thinking of you rasta you will be back on stage before we can say we do Colombia LG x (sic)”

Andy Bell, another former Oasis star, also sent his best wishes to Bonehead, writing, “Get well soon Bone. (sic)”

Bonehead left Oasis in 1999, saying he wanted to spend more time with his family, but continued to work with Liam over the years, including in his band Beady Eye and on other solo projects.
