The BRIT Awards with Mastercard took place tonight in a sold-out O2 arena packed with fans, artists and industry guests to celebrate the achievements of UK and international artists over the past 12 months. The 42nd BRIT Awards were broadcast live on ITV and ITV Hub and streamed on YouTube for non-UK viewers, with a total of 13 awards presented throughout the evening alongside an all-British line-up of spectacular performances, all live from inside the arena.

Hosted by Mo Gilligan, the 2.5 hour show opened with a spectacular theatrical performance by Ed Sheeran with a new version of “Bad Habits”, for which he was joined by special guests Bring Me The Horizon.

With medleys and music legends at the heart of the BRITs’ stage performances, Anne-Marie and KSI, along with Digital Farm Animals, delivered a jaw-dropping three-song set while rock royalty Liam Gallagher braved a helicopter to the O2 arena to perform his new single ‘Everything is Electric’.

The 2022 BRIT Awards were truly Adele’s night out. Welcoming this extraordinary artist back on stage for an elegant and stripped-down performance of her powerful ballad “I Drink Wine”; the stage that saw his unprecedented career soar and pop music history made, the BRITs honored the London-born global phenom with three awards on the night, bringing the total number of BRIT trophies to 12 from Adele since winning the first-ever Rising Star award in 2008 Adele has been awarded the prestigious Mastercard Album of the Year for the third time, having won for her two previous albums in 2012 and 2016 – the only solo artist in the BRIT’s history of winning this award three times. The international counterparts of these new categories also saw two unbeatable global artists celebrated; with Billie Eilish winning International Artist of the Year and Olivia Rodrigo presenting International Song of the Year for ‘Good 4 U’ – the UK’s best-selling international single of the year. International Group went to Silk Sonic – the collaborative superduo made up of American artists Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak.

Making their BRIT debut both on stage with an electrifying two-song performance and in this year’s shortlists, Little Simz was featured with Best New Artist, beating competition from Central Cee, Griff, Joy Crookes and Self. Esteem. She was joined on stage by actress Emma Corrin. London-based band Wolf Alice, winners of the Mercury Prize, won the award for best group, the second year they were nominated in this category.

The 2022 BRITs Rising Star shortlist saw three incredible female artists compete for the coveted prize, chosen by critics and music bosses to identify future stars of British music. Winner Holly Humberstone was able to perform for her biggest audience yet with a rendition of her new single ‘London is Lonely’, and was featured on stage by last year’s rising star recipient Griff .

The BRITs in 2022 saw a number of changes to the awards categories to create even more opportunities for artists to be recognized. The recipient of the first-ever BRITs Songwriter of the Year award went tonight to Ed Sheeran, a true superstar who continues to break world records, command huge collaborations and has remained at the top of his game. art. Four new genre awards have launched this year, with a public fan vote to determine the overall winner in each of the new categories. After winning two awards last year, Dua Lipa was honored by Pop/R&B Act, and after receiving her first-ever BRIT nominations this year, Becky Hill received Dance Act. Alternative/Rock Act went to Sam Fender (bringing his UK label Polydor’s trophy count to 5), who later in the show wowed the audience with a performance of his single “Seventeen Going Under”. British rap royalty Dave received the Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act award from Arsenal legends Ian Wright and Bukayo Saka, and closed the ceremony with a triumphant performance of “In The Fire”, where he was joined by other rappers Ghetts, Giggs, Fredo, Konyikeh and Meekz.

Last month, the winner of the BRITs Producer of the Year award was announced as Inflo, in recognition of his work with BRIT winners Adele and Little Simz, as well as Michael Kiwanuka and SAULT.
